Jacqui Wood Gallery

This solo Exhibition, at the Jacqui Wood Gallery, Dundee University School of Medicine at Ninewells NHS Hospital, now forms part of the University’s Permanent Art Collection.  It is an amalgamation of artwork completed in 2022 and 2023 which focuses on Menopause and the challenges of being a mid-life woman.

Originally the work was exhibited at the Naren Patel Gallery, Ninewells NHS Hospital.  The Exhibition was launched at a presentation at the Athena Swan Meeting which marked International Women’s Day on 06/03/25.  The Exhibition proved controversial following a complaint by a member of NHS staff.  One could argue that it was a manifestation of ‘Artivism’ because the debate that ensued, put women’s health and how it is prioritised (or not) front and centre.

Not to be deterred and with huge support from the School of Medicine, the Exhibition has now been relocated to the Jacqui Wood Gallery as part of their permanent collection.  Following this I was invited to present at a ‘Let’s Talk about Menopause’ event which was open to the public at the University’s Fife Campus in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.

I would like to thank the School of Medicine for this opportunity, for supporting women’s health issues that are often under-represented in art and culture and their unwavering support.
